Zeal & Ardor have released "Devil Is Fine x Carpenter Brut" via MVKA, with a visualizer. French producer Carpenter Brut, whose synth-driven, horror-soaked sound has become a genre of its own, took apart the title track of Zeal & Ardor's 2016 breakthrough record and rebuilt it.

"Devil Is Fine" was the record that first fused black metal aggression with the rhythms and history of African American spirituals and work songs, and introduced Manuel Gagneux's project to a global audience.

Gagneux says, "Imagine if one of the most capable electronic musicians out there remixed a song of ours. Imagine if that would result in a track that might eclipse the original. Imagine if you could listen to such a thing right now." Carpenter Brut adds, "Zeal & Ardor have such a distinctive sound so it was a real pleasure to take 'Devil Is Fine' into my own world while keeping the spirit of the original."

Zeal & Ardor's most recent album is GREIF (2024), and the band headlined Switzerland's Up In Smoke festival last week. They also recently released Devil Is Fine X, a remastered reissue of their 2016 debut with five previously unreleased bonus tracks. Carpenter Brut's Leather Temple, the closing chapter of his Leather trilogy, is out now via No Quarter Prod/Virgin Records.
