Kings of USBM Wolves in the Throne Room have shared the title track and opening song from their new album Estuary, with a cinematic new music video. The LP arrives October 23rd via Relapse Records in North America.
The record is described as the band's most ferocious and genre-bending yet: rawer and more volatile, with noisy industrial elements, massive percussion and seething gothic guitars. Vocalist/guitarist Nathan Weaver says the album is "set 1000 years in the future after the end of civilization. Survivors of a cataclysm wander the haunted ruins. It is a world of mutant creatures and open portals." Within that world, the estuaries are nexus points where magic has taken physical form.
Estuary was produced by the band, with touring bassist Galen Baudhuin (Aridus, Street Tombs) on low end. Most of it was recorded at their own Owl Lodge studio in Olympia, Washington, with drums tracked by Nicholas Wilbur at The Unknown, a converted church in Anacortes.
