Danish Band Now Tied for Sixth-Most #1s in Chart History, Still Hold Record for Most #1s by a Non-North American Artist
When you break your own record, you're doing something right. Volbeat have done exactly that — their single "Demonic Depression" has reached #1 on the Billboard Mainstream Rock Airplay chart, making it the band's thirteenth number one single and their third from their ninth album God of Angels Trust.
The Danish band already held the record for the most #1 singles on the Billboard Mainstream Rock chart by an artist originating outside of North America — a record they keep stretching with every new chart-topper. With 13 number ones, Volbeat are now tied for sixth place all-time on the chart, joining the ranks of Van Halen, Godsmack, Disturbed, Linkin Park, and Papa Roach.
"Demonic Depression" follows their 12th #1 "Time Will Heal" and their 11th "By a Monster's Hand," both also from God of Angels Trust. That's a hat trick from a single album — no small feat in today's rock landscape.
The band — Michael Poulsen (guitar/vocals), Jon Larsen (drums), Kaspar Boye Larsen (bass), and Flemming C Lund (lead guitar) — will soon kick off the fourth leg of their Greatest Of All Tours Worldwide, heading across Europe.
