THAO Announces First Album in Six Years, Show Me, Plus Extensive 2027 Tour

Critically acclaimed songwriter THAO (formerly of Thao & the Get Down Stay Down) will release her first album in six years, Show Me, on October 30 via Kill Rock Stars. Self-produced alongside Nate Brenner and Merrill Garbus of Tune-Yards, the record features guest turns from Tune-Yards, The Linda Lindas, Neko Case, and Adrian Quesada (Black Pumas).

Show Me documents a period of personal upheaval — divorce, the upending of a home — and a turn toward using her voice for community and political change. "I learned that the point of life is not to emerge unscathed," THAO says. "This album is a real-time record-keeping of my life evolving into a different relationship with love and desire over the last few years... I came out publicly years ago but I've never really written a song about sex or queer identity. So, that's in there." Fittingly, the band name Thao and the Get Down Stay Down is retired with this release.

THAO has announced an extensive 2027 North American tour hitting NYC, DC, Boston, Nashville, Portland, Seattle, Chicago, Atlanta, and more, kicking off with a handful of 2026 dates in November. She's teaming up with The Ally Coalition to donate a portion of ticket sales to organizations supporting LGBTQ youth in each tour city.

Tickets go on sale Friday, September 25 at 12pm local time via http://thaothaothao.com.
