STEVE AUSTIN, founder and frontman of legendary metal outfit Today Is The Day, is releasing his debut outlaw country album, Marked Cards And Loaded Dice, on May 1 via his own SuperNova Records — and it's as authentic as it comes.

Recorded entirely on 1960s-1970s vintage analog gear — including Neve preamps, Neumann tube mics, and Abbey Road TG console equipment — the album sounds as rich and real as the golden era of outlaw country. Austin handles guitar, bass, and vocals; legendary pedal steel master Dana Flood (Hall of Fame sideman for Hank Williams, Willie Nelson, and George Jones) and fiddle virtuoso Ryu Bennett add soaring emotional depth.

Decibel Magazine, which is premiering the album before release, wrote: "The eleven-track album is stripped back and raw, following closely in the tradition of Townes Van Zandt, Willie Nelson and Johnny Cash. It has a sense of real authenticity, blending catchiness with ballads and occasional bursts of upbeat chicken pickin'."

Austin grew up on a horse farm in Tennessee, trading country songs with his honky-tonk musician father before spending three decades producing landmark metal records (Lamb of God's New American Gospel, Converge's When Forever Comes Crashing). Marked Cards And Loaded Dice is a full-circle homecoming.

Extensive touring throughout 2026 and 2027 is being planned.
