UK punk veterans Seven Crowns have released the music video for their latest single "Side Effects," the final single ahead of their fourth studio album Haunted Head, out May 29th on limited edition vinyl via Pale Wizard Records.
The band has been around since 2006, with a history more adventurous than most — their first gig was supporting Subhumans on a two-week U.S. tour, and they went on to tour North America, Central America, Europe, Southeast Asia, and New Zealand. They were even the first Western band to play the Indonesian island of Sulawesi since Kool and the Gang played a private gig for then-president Suharto in 1981.
Haunted Head was born out of a period of heavy loss — many of the band's loved ones passed away during its creation. Rather than dwelling in grief, the album celebrates the relationships shared with those who are gone. As the band explains:
"'Haunted Head' is heavy as fuck psychedelic punk. This record is not lamenting their passing, but rather celebrates the fact that we had the incredible good luck to have shared our lives with them in the first place. Haunted Head is a love letter to those we have lost."
"Side Effects" was released on May 1st — the Pagan festival of Beltaine, a celebration of rebirth and the start of Summer. The video was directed by Kieran Gallop of GLK Media (Sleeptoken, Mesh, Ingested).
