Motörhead are marking the 40th anniversary of their 1986 album Orgasmatron with a deluxe reissue featuring a brand-new remix by longtime collaborator Cameron Webb, alongside the original Bill Laswell-produced recording, newly remastered and cut at half-speed from the original tapes.

The project grew out of an old grievance — Lemmy and Phil Campbell reportedly always felt some of the album's power got lost in Laswell's original mix. "As old-school Motörhead fans, we found ourselves sitting around the coffee table one night several months ago, drinks in hand, pondering what Orgasmatron would sound like if it were to be remixed by Motörhead's longtime producer, Cameron Webb," the band's team explains. "We asked Cameron if he was up for it. And he screamed a rather enthusiastic 'yes'!"

Webb, who first heard the album at 14 ("It was like the devil coming through my cassette tape"), says he approached the remix by imagining what Lemmy and Phil might have asked for: "I love the fact that the original is wild and a little messy... The aim was never to replace the original, but to reveal more of what was inside it."

A new video for "Orgasmatron" is out now, with preorders live at https://motorhead.lnk.to/orgasmatron40thPR

The Orgasmatron 40th Anniversary Edition arrives as a deluxe 3LP bookpack and 2CD — featuring the remastered original mix, the Cameron Webb remix, 1985 studio rehearsals and outtakes, and the band's complete 1986 BBC Radio 1 Friday Rock Show session — plus a single-LP pressing on transparent violet vinyl.
