Lost Grrrl Found — billed as "the only play with a mosh pit" — is a riot-grrrl-inspired musical from NYU alums Penelope Gould and Holly Nance that's been selling out DIY venues across Brooklyn, Manhattan, and Queens since 2024. Now, alongside director/musician Marina Carlstroem, the trio have announced Pupal Phase, a four-song EP distilling the emotional core of the larger 22-song show, out October 23.
Leading the announcement is "Time To Grow Up," a cheeky, bittersweet track about the moment two friends realize they're drifting apart. "We enter Morgan and Izzy's relationship at an inflection point," Carlstroem explains. "Saccharine, chuggy rhythm guitar buoys scathing lyrical cuts, as Morgan deflects from her inner turmoil by pushing Izzy away... Morgan and Izzy's break up ballad cozies up to the whimsical swath of riot grrrl, in the vein of Tiger Trap and Dressy Bessy."
The project has already drawn praise from Magnet Magazine and Loud Women, with COPY calling it "like opening a new door to a funhouse mirror I didn't know existed." Lost Grrrl Found play an EP release show October 24 at Stone Circle Theatre in Ridgewood, NY.
