Just back from their tour with Infected Rain, Lithuanian avant-garde quintet BLACK SPIKES have dropped their second single and a cinematic music video for "REVANA" — taken from their upcoming album Ydos, out August 28 via Napalm Records.
Ydos is a dark conceptual album — a fairytale about human vices, with each song depicting one of humankind's flaws personified as a demon. "REVANA" is revenge given form: haunting the band's dark realms with beautiful melodies and immediately recognizable riffs.
The band explains: "Revenge promises closure but often delivers continuation. It keeps the story going instead of ending it. In the music video, we depict a story inspired by the witch hunts that also reached Lithuania in the 17th century."
Leaning into electronic music while holding firm to their metal roots, BLACK SPIKES create something alluringly dark and captivatingly heavy — think modern progressive metal with gloom-filled philosophical depth.
