Legendary feminist rockers L7 kick off the North American leg of their final world tour, The Last Hurrah Tour, on October 6 in San Diego, and they're marking it with a new single, "Loma Linda."
The song is pulled from the archives: a demo originally recorded in 2003 with bassist Janis Tanaka, with the music and lyrics completed this week. Tanaka, who played bass in L7 from 1999 to 2001, is back in the band after the death of Jennifer Finch earlier this year. Per the band, Finch gave her blessing for the tour to go ahead with Tanaka replacing her.
Donita Sparks says: "I was searching the band's archives and came across this unfinished track from when Janis was in the band. It still sounded rather fresh and very L7 so we recorded new vocals with new lyrics and some other additional tracks and cranked it out in a couple of days ahead of this upcoming tour. Gotta warn ya, we dig it and hope you do too."
"Loma Linda" is a free download from http://l7theband.com for its first week, then moves to streaming platforms.
