Texas-born singer-songwriter Jess Williamson has released "High Heels and Blue Jeans," a new single from her sixth studio album, "A Mile South of Heaven," out October 9 on New West Records.

A story of survival at its core, the song illustrates the ways women perform to endure hard situations. "There are moments in life, for us women especially, when the only way through is to put your makeup on, get dressed up, and carry on," Williamson says. "I've had nights on tour where I was going through something in my personal life and fighting back tears trying to do my eyeliner before a show... So no matter what I'm carrying, it's on with the show."

Produced by Shooter Jennings at Sunset Sound in Hollywood, the twang-forward, 12-song LP was written between LA and Marfa, Texas. Williamson plays AmericanaFest in Nashville this month and Austin City Limits October 4
