Interview with ViennaCC
What got you into music, and if you had not gotten into music what would you be doing today?
I played in bands from hard rock to dance hall music. The last is real monkey job, but you learn a lot.
What do you like to do when you are not playing music and how does that influence your creativity?
I work on music video. I work as photo artist. Often I watch youtube videos from others and watch tv to get ideas.
How long have you been making music?
Since decades I make music.
Where are you based and how did that influence your music?
I am living in Vienna / Austria. My influences are Britpop and US rock music. I like songwriting from Bob Dylan, specially the lyrics, Also I like 60s bands from Britain.
Tell me about your most memorable shows, if you haven’t played live what is your vision for a live show?
Dance hall music is a hard hob. You play from 8pm to 4am. The worst are drunken Elvis fanswhen they put a banknote into the hat saying “Hey, play Love Me Tender one more time – nothing against the song, but for the fifth time at 4.30 am, that’s really monkey work..
What is your favorite venue to play at, and do you have any places you want to play that you have not already?
Small club in Vienna has a special atmosphere. But one day I want to play at a Grammy show.
If you could play any show with any lineup, who would be on the ticket?
I would like to play with an old star – if active – from the 60s like Ray Davies / The Kinks
What is some advice that you would give to someone who is just getting into making music and some advice that you would give to your younger self?
“Keep on going your way”
Of your songs which one means the most to you and why?
“Gold Is What the Girls Want”, because it is the actual song.
Which songs are your favorite to play and which get requested the most?
The best response had “Online Love”. Nr.1 in EuroIndieMusic and WorldIndieMusic charts and introduced to US Top 20 show.
What is your creative process, and what inspires you to write your music?
I usually first write the lyrics. It is quite easy for me to get a melody and chord progression. Lyrics are harder for me, possibly because it is not my mother language.
Do you have messages that you like to get across in your music? if so please tell me about them.
All songs have a positive mindset. I think life can be great and the world is full of inspirations.
Do you have any new singles, videos, or albums out that you would like to tell me and your fans about?
”Gold Is What the Girls Want" emerges as a rhythmic pop/dance track, exploring the facets of materialism and desire, accompanied by infectious melodies and a playful commentary on societal norms. Now let us flip the coin, revealing the other side of relationships. In a moment of contemplation, I ponder the age-old question: What truly impresses the fairer sex? Is it the classic gesture of flowers and chocolate, or perhaps an extravagant meal at a gourmet restaurant? Yet, as I delve deeper into the intricacies of romance, I think I arrive at a sobering realization: we inhabit a world dictated by materialism. In this modern age, the allure of tangible possessions often eclipses the simplicity of heartfelt gestures. It's a reflection on the shifting dynamics of courtship and the pervasive influence of consumer culture. As I grapple with this revelation, I confront the complexities of love in a society where material wealth often takes precedence over genuine connection.
What are your plans for the future, and do you have anything that you want to spotlight that is coming up?
I actually collect ideas. The outcome is unpredictable.
How can your fans best keep up to date with you, any socials you want people to check out?
