Interview with V OF 40M
What got you into music, and if you had not gotten into music what would you be doing today?
The Creator will always get the credit, it’s been a vital piece of the puzzle since before I even had a thought of becoming an artist. If I weren’t making revolutionist music, I would still be a revolutionist and revolutionary - just as I am now.
What do you like to do when you are not playing music and how does that influence your creativity?
I enjoy organizing, teaching or should I say informing and building amongst my people. The movement and our journey towards independence is the catalyst for anything I or we, the M’s, do musically.
How long have you been making music?
The V of 40M saga began in 2020 when we released “No Church on Sunday” signifying the birth of Revolutionary Rap.
Where are you based and how did that influence your music?
We’re based throughout the US but focused currently in North Carolina. Obviously being quote-unquote “US” born, specifically Melanite or Black American, the culture in which I was raised has had an impact on not just me as an artist but also me as a demigod.
Tell me about your most memorable shows, if you haven’t played live what is your vision for a live show?
My vision would be tens of thousands Melanites in attendance leaving the show motivated and inspired to act collectively towards self sufficiency, self determination and independence.
What is your favorite venue to play at, and do you have any places you want to play that you have not already?
On the steps of the White House and Washington Monument.
If you could play any show with any lineup, who would be on the ticket?
Revolutionary or at least somewhat “aware” artists only. Younger 2pac and Bob Marley would be the dream but Public Enemy, Dead Prez, Kendrick Lamar maybe, J. Cole possibly and an international act like Stormzy you feel me. If there are any more on or close to M timing then we would love to have them on deck too.
What is some advice that you would give to someone who is just getting into making music and some advice that you would give to your younger self?
Never give up the fight. Trust yourself and the process. Do not be afraid to be great and lastly, invest. Investing includes more than just money by the way.
Of your songs which one means the most to you and why?
They all mean the world to me, they are our soundtrack to the revolution. The Score is most recent so it’s a fave because it’s fresh but it’ll be the same for the next one and the one after that and the one after that and so on.
Which songs are your favorite to play and which get requested the most?
Can’t say that I have a favorite but No Church on Sunday has been requested many, many times.
What is your creative process, and what inspires you to write your music?
The Creator, those who have a direct connection to me and my people overall inspire me the most. Everything I create is intended to inform, inspire and motivate. Some come to me with the beat, some come to me randomly at the weirdest times lol.
Do you have messages that you like to get across in your music? if so please tell me about them.
Ok, I’ll give y’all the abbreviated version. That “Black” people or Melanites are able and ready, whether they know it or not, to be an autonomously independent and self sufficient people. That we are just as capable as any other people of building and maintaining our own. That as a collective, we are an unstoppable force and that the time is now for us to act on all of this.
Do you have any new singles, videos, or albums out that you would like to tell me and your fans about?

What are your plans for the future, and do you have anything that you want to spotlight that is coming up?
