Interview with Tangents

What’s new?

There has been lots happening in the Tangents camp! Firstly, we’ve teamed up with two stellar new musicians, Nathan  Chechock to play lead guitar and Simon Oliver to hit the skins for us.

We’d been feeling a little down on our luck with the departure of our last drummer and guitarist but these two new guys really stepped up in a big way. They made what could have been a long period of inactivity truly as quick and painless as possible.

What has been inspiring?

It’s been an exciting period for us. We have a lot planned and the great thing is we’ve been really treating the band like it’s a team effort. Every band member has been coming through on their individual ends to divide, conquer and get things done. None of us are super young guys, we have families, jobs and lots going on outside of the band so it’s been inspiring to see that all of us can still come together to make things happen with this little “for the love” math metal art project.  Beyond that nothing else gets us going more than the amazing people who come to shows to rock out with us. It sounds corny but it rings true to say “Joy is at its purest when it’s shared”.

Singles, albums, videos

Yes! We have a brand new 3 song EP called “Molt” that we just dropped not long ago on all streaming platforms!  We decided to go with a less is more but highest quality possible approach with this one. We hired our friend and Juno Award winning mixer/engineer Chris Dimas to record it. Not only is he a rad drummer (plays for Bleeker) but he’s an absolute master in the studio.

We plan to do at least 2 videos and possibly a lyric video to accompany the tunes. The first video shoot for the song “Mass Delusion” is scheduled for June 22, so it may be out now depending on when you’re reading this! For now, we have a video for a song we did a couple of years ago called “Constant”.  That track/video is available on YouTube.

What else do we have to promote?

We are going on tour for two weeks starting July 16th! We have 9 shows booked between Montreal and Nova Scotia and we’ve named this one “No Dragons, No Lasers, just LobsTOUR”. Please check our socials for dates near you! We only get to do this once a year right now so we’re super stoked to be coming to the Canadian East coast.

How to stay up to date with us:

We currently operate on Facebook and Instagram for the most part.

If you search for Tangenstsofficial on those platforms we will come up! We’re not the only band with the name so look for the skull or the triangle symbols.

We also add people on our individual profiles because we like to interact with people on a personal level. Many of these people wind up becoming genuine friends and that really what we are going for.

Here is our linktree to our socials where we post shows, tour Information and links to our tracks!

Thank you so much for the Volatile Weekly shout-out, it’s been a pleasure!
