(From 8/2025)

Hey, thank you for coming back for another interview!

What is new since the last interview?

(Angela): A lot has changed since our last chat! This year has been a whirlwind — we changed our lineup, completed a European tour, released three new singles, and jumped headfirst into the summer festival season. Earlier this year, our longtime bassist Nicola Pedron and drummer Sebastiano Dolzani stepped down for personal reasons. They've been replaced by Sofia Basili on bass and Andrea Miazzetto on drums. Andrea actually played with Secret Rule back in 2016, so we already knew his talent and personality would be a great fit. Sofia, on the other hand, is brand new — and she's been an incredible surprise, bringing both musical skill and energy. They joined us in February, and just a few weeks later, we got a last-minute call from Temperance to join them on tour. With only two rehearsals, we hit the road — and even more impressively, both Sofia and Andrea recorded their parts on our upcoming album, which had already been written and pre-produced with the previous members. So, it was a fast and intense start for this new chapter! The chemistry clicked immediately, and our fans responded with incredible enthusiasm, both during the tour and with our latest singles from the upcoming album X (representing the Roman numeral for 10, to celebrate our tenth anniversary), set for release on October 24th. We also signed with a new label, Rockshots Records, and that really felt like the missing puzzle piece we'd been looking for. Everything has aligned — the new lineup, the label, the album — and we've never felt stronger. To top it all off, we've been playing some of the best festivals we've ever been part of: Rock Imperium (Spain), Masters of Rock (Czech Republic), and Laurus Nobilis (Portugal). There's so much happening, and even more ahead. It's an exciting time!

What has been inspiring you lately?

Andy and I are always curious and open-minded when it comes to music. Lately, we've found a lot of inspiration in modern metalcore. Even though that genre typically includes rough or growled vocals — which I love, but don't match my natural voice — we've still pulled elements from that sound into our new album. You'll hear breakdowns, syncopated grooves, and heavier riffing in X, but always with that unmistakable Secret Rule identity: strong melodies, cinematic arrangements, and emotional vocal lines. We love exploring new sonic territory without losing who we are. And thankfully, our fans have always supported that evolution and stayed curious about what we'll try next.

Do you have any new singles, videos, or albums out that you would like to tell me and your fans about?

Absolutely! We've just released three new singles from our upcoming album X. The first, "Just a Sacrifice," dropped on May 2. It's a defiant anthem for anyone who's ever felt punished for being different. It speaks to the quiet, personal cost of staying true to yourself in a world that pressures you to conform. Lyrically, it's raw and emotional. Musically, it's urgent and powerful, blending pounding rhythms with a vocal performance that channels both pain and strength. It's for anyone who has chosen authenticity over comfort.

The second single, "Echoes of the Earth," came out on June 24. It's rooted in the idea of reconnection with nature, with your own center, and with something ancient beneath the surface noise of everyday life. There's a spiritual quality to the lyrics, written at a time when I was personally seeking grounding. Musically, it balances heaviness and serenity — grooving basslines, layered melodies, and a driving pulse that feels both primal and timeless.

Our newest single, "Silent Pain," dropped on August 5. We gave fans an exclusive preview of it at summer festivals, without revealing its name, and the reaction was incredible. The song dives deep into the emotional struggle of battling inner darkness, capturing the silent suffering many hide behind a smile, and the strength it takes to rise again.

All three singles are leading up to our new full-length album, "X," set for release this October in celebration of our 10th anniversary. It's our boldest and most modern work yet, fusing new elements like rap vocals, electronic layers, and heavier grooves into our signature symphonic metal foundation. Lyrically, it explores collapse, rebirth, inner battles, and personal evolution. X is more than just an album — it's a statement about who we are now and what's still to come.

Do you have anything else that you would like to talk about or promote?

Yes, absolutely. The pre-order for our upcoming album X is officially open! We've put together two special limited-edition packs, and the Fan Pack includes something truly close to our hearts — our very first book. We wrote it ourselves, filling it with never-before-revealed stories, behind-the-scenes moments, and little secrets we've never shared until now. It's our way of letting you step even deeper into our world. You can grab your copy now from our official webshop: https://www.secretrule.it/store

From the bottom of our hearts, thank you for walking this path with us over the years — and especially for standing with us as we open this new chapter. We can't wait for you to hear the full album. We're already planning more live shows for 2026, and we're looking forward to meeting you face-to-face, sharing new songs, and making unforgettable memories together.
