Interview with Rod Rodrigues

Hey, thank you for coming back for another interview!

What is new since the last interview?

I recently released my album Tales of a Changing Life Part 2. It’s the second chapter of a concept story inspired by my journey of moving to a new country to build a new life.

What has been inspiring you lately?

The experience of moving has inspired me in many ways. Being exposed to a new culture has pushed me to explore different ideas in my music, including experimenting with new instruments and styles. Since then, I’ve been fascinated by blending diverse musical elements into my music.

I’ve also been listening to a lot of progressive rock bands like Rush, Marillion, Genesis, and Yes.

Do you have any new singles, videos, or albums out that you would like to tell me and your fans about?

Yes! My new album Tales of a Changing Life Part 2 is a blend of styles. While it’s mostly progressive rock, it also incorporates elements of Latin music, French influences and orchestrations

The album features three singles:

  • Inukshuk – The heaviest track on the album and my first song written with a 7-string guitar. It features two special guests, Angel Vivaldi, who plays the second guitar solo, and John Macaluso (Yngwie Malmsteen, Ark, Symphony X) on drums.

  • On The Road – A mix of Rush and Van Halen influences, with a section inspired by Brazilian traditional country music. It even includes a Brazilian instrument called the Viola Caipira.

  • Mom’s Lullaby – A ballad I wrote for my mom, inspired by Steve Vai, Pink Floyd, and Dream Theater. It features a beautiful choir at the end.

I’m confident fans will love the album. It’s melodic, progressive, and packed with shredding moments!

Do you have anything else that you would like to talk about or promote?

I have three more music videos scheduled for release in the coming months. In January, I’ll drop a video for “East Coast Memories,” which features the incredible Canadian guitarist Roy Ziv.

I’m also promoting my instructional eBooks and online courses, which can be found at www.rrguitaracademy.com.
