Interview with Infinitas
1. What got you into music, and if you had not gotten into music, what would you be doing today?
I’ve always had a love for singing and music. From a young age, I would sing along to any song that resonated with me. Had I not chosen the path of a musician, I would likely still be teaching, as I was a primary school teacher before fully dedicating myself to the band and the life of an artist.
2. What do you like to do when you are not playing music, and how does that influence your creativity?
Outside of music, I enjoy reading, walking, hiking, cooking, meeting up with friends, and drawing. These activities help me recharge and spark inspiration for creating new stories and emotions in our songs, allowing me to bring more depth to my performances.
3. Where are you based, and how did that influence your music?
Our band is based in Switzerland, which provides a unique blend of scenic beauty and cultural diversity that feeds into our music. This backdrop has influenced the fantasy elements in our songs and the way we craft epic stories that explore themes of resilience and self-discovery.
4. How did you come up with the name of your band, and what does it mean to you?
The name Infinitas is derived from the Latin word for "infinity," symbolizing the endless possibilities in music and storytelling. It represents a journey without boundaries, where we can explore human emotions, myths, and epic tales in a limitless creative space. This concept of unending potential resonates deeply with us, as we see music as a realm where fantasy and reality blend and where we’re free to evolve and push our limits as artists.
5. Tell me about your most memorable shows.
I really loved the Rockharz Show in 2023 or the Rock the Lakes show in 2024. And of course my very first gig with INFINITAS.
6. What is your favorite venue to play at, and do you have any places you want to play that you have not already?
One of my favorite venues to play has been Rockharz Festival. It’s an incredible festival that’s organized with so much heart and dedication. The atmosphere is electric, and the backstage area is truly amazing, giving artists everything they need to feel welcome and appreciated. Rockharz has such a strong community vibe, and it’s inspiring to perform for a crowd that’s just as passionate about the music as we are.
7. If you could play any show with any lineup, who would be on the ticket?
If I could choose, it would be incredible to share the stage with bands that inspire us, such as Arch Enemy, Eluveitie, Soilwork and many more. Their powerful performances and storytelling would perfectly complement our own style.
8. What is some advice that you would give to someone just getting into playing in a band and some advice that you would give your younger self?
For those just starting out, I’d say embrace the challenges and always stay true to your unique sound. I would tell my younger self to trust the process, to be bold in my artistic choices, and to connect with others who share my passion.
9. If you could go back in time and give yourselves advice, what would it be?
Stay persistent, enjoy the journey, and don’t rush the creative process. Every stage has its purpose, and it all adds up to a bigger picture.
10. Of your songs, which one means the most to you and why?
For me, Laima holds a special place. It’s about going “all in” in life and fighting for your dreams with everything you have. The song reflects the importance of commitment, resilience, and pursuing what sets your soul on fire. It’s empowering and reminds me—and hopefully our listeners—of the value of dedicating oneself fully to what truly matters, despite the challenges along the way.
11. Which songs are your favorite to play, and which get requested the most?
Some of my favorite songs to perform are Kratos, Xana, Laima, Avnas, and Rahu. Each of them has a unique energy that lets us connect with the audience in different ways. Kratos and Laima, for instance, are powerful and intense, with themes of resilience and determination, while Xana and Rahu explore darker, more mysterious elements. These songs tend to be the most requested by fans, and they’re always exciting to bring to life on stage.
12. What is the creative process for the band, and what inspires you to write your music?
Our creative process is collaborative and often starts with a story or an idea about a mythical creature or demon, which we then flesh out through music. We draw inspiration from myths, personal experiences, and the journey of self-discovery.
13. What kinds of messages do you like to get across in your music?
Our music explores inner battles, resilience, and transformation. We want listeners to feel empowered to confront their own struggles and to realize that they have the strength to overcome anything.
14. Do you ever have disagreements in your band, and how do you get past them?
Like any creative group, we have differing opinions from time to time, but we work through them by communicating openly. Respect and a shared vision help us stay on the same page and move forward together.
15. What are your plans for the future, and do you have anything that you want to spotlight that is coming up?
We’re excited about the release of our upcoming album Tellus, which fans can help bring to life through our ongoing crowdfunding campaign. It’s shaping up to be one of our most ambitious projects yet, with epic violin melodies, heavy riffs, and themes that explore humanity’s relationship with nature.
