Interview with Greyson Zane

What got you into music, and if you had not gotten into music what would you be doing today?

My family got into music from a very young age and gave me a guitar for Christmas when I was about 6. If I hadn’t gotten into music I have no idea what I would be doing. Maybe a sports analyst?

What do you like to do when you are not playing music and how does that influence your creativity?

When I’m not playing music I’m thinking about it. Music consumes my brain every second of the day. When I’m not playing music I usually like to watch TV or hang out with friends, but it somehow always gets back to music.

How long have you been making music?

I’ve been writing music since I was 12 and I started releasing music in various bands when I was 16!

Where are you based and how did that influence your music?

I’m currently between two places right now. My hometown of Orlando and my college town of Boston. Orlando has affected me very much because of all of my friend’s amazing bands coming out of there right now!

Tell me about your most memorable shows, if you haven’t played live what is your vision for a live show?

I have only played live as Greyson Zane once, but it was very memorable! It was the first time I played a show where the audience sang back to me!

What is your favorite venue to play at, and do you have any places you want to play that you have not already?

My favorite venue that I’ve played is probably the Social in Orlando, there are so many venues I dream of playing though. I think my number one right now would be the Hard Rock Orlando.

If you could play any show with any lineup, who would be on the ticket?

That’s easy. Metallica, Blink-182, Bring Me the Horizon, Neck Deep, and me.

What is some advice that you would give to someone who is just getting into making music and some advice that you would give to your younger self?

It’s all about social media nowadays. Make as much content and post as much as you can. Don’t stop when your posts aren’t getting any likes, just try harder and make better songs/content. I’d also give the same advice to younger myself except I would’ve said start posting on TikTok in 2019 lol.

Of your songs which one means the most to you and why?

DEAD @ 16 definitely. It means the most to me because I was finally able to put a terrible experience that happened in my life into a song.

Which songs are your favorite to play and which get requested the most?

My favorite song to play at this moment is With Ü because it’s a super catchy chorus that I can teach to the crowd before I start playing it!

What is your creative process, and what inspires you to write your music?

I have two. I either start with a catchy melody or I start with a guitar riff! Anything can inspire me. It’s mainly all what’s going on or what went on in the past in my personal life though.

Do you have messages that you like to get across in your music? if so please tell me about them.

That people aren’t alone in what they go through. Most of my songs are stories of what has happened to me in the past.

Do you have any new singles, videos, or albums out that you would like to tell me and your fans about?

I have one more single coming then my second EP, 444, which comes out January 19th!

What are your plans for the future, and do you have anything that you want to spotlight that is coming up?

I have two shows planned at the moment! The Emo Social Block Party w/ Hawthorne Heights, Capstan, and 408 December 16th and my EP release show January 19th. BOTH IN ORLANDO! I’m also going back into the studio in January to write some new ones!

How can your fans best keep up to date with you, any socials you want people to check out?

Spotify, Instagram, TikTok, and Twitter!
