Interview with DOLL
Hey, thank you for coming back for another interview!
What is new since the last interview?
After a long hiatus, Doll is back from the dead with a new album. https://open.spotify.com/intl-fr/artist/4b71TwxBaDQH7JMy3dCUPi?si=dAncj-A8R1aEb9sBnm99sw
What has been inspiring you lately?
Our lyrics have always come from a real place. We’ve been through it—loss, struggle, inner battles that don’t just disappear. We live with those demons every day, and writing in a darker tone isn’t just a preference—it’s therapy. It’s how we process, how we stay positive. Playing these songs helps carry our spirits, and maybe, for someone listening, it helps lift theirs too. Musically, bands like SoftCult, Amyl and the Sniffers, Poppy, Scowl, and Nobro have been inspiring us.
Do you have any new singles, videos, or albums out that you would like to tell me and your fans about?
We have a new music video for Smoke on the Water: Youtube.com/insidethedollhouse
We have always done a cover version with each release of Doll, with White Wedding and JailBreak,
Smoke was another one that came together really quickly. We loved the original, but after seeing all the fires and the destruction that happened in 2024, there was this need to bring forward our own version of the song. We updated the lyrics to match how the disasters had made us feel, and musically, we have always wanted to try a more doom-inspired vibe, and this song let us express ourselves in a raw and emotional way.
We also just released a new single called Shark Bait. Shark Bait was a fun some that we had come up with after playing around with some hardcore style riffing and our passion for the Jaws movies. We have always had a strong attraction to shark movies, and when Pete came up with the riff for the chorus, it just felt so right with the “Shark Bait” vocals, everything was clicking and we just went for it. https://open.spotify.com/embed/track/2sb9LALITQ0vLXQ2wZ9hjM?utm_source=generator
