Interview with BOYSARM

What got you into music, and if you had not gotten into music what would you be doing today?

I got into music because it's always been a part of me. Growing up, I was inspired by artists like Wande Coal and Asa, and I realized I wanted to tell my story and connect with people through my songs. If I hadn't gotten into music, I would be a full-time linguist.

What do you like to do when you are not playing music, and how does that influence your creativity?

When I'm not playing music, I spend my time drawing, painting, or playing games. These activities help me relax and spark my creativity, giving me fresh ideas and new perspectives that I bring into my music.

How long have you been making music?

I've been making music for a few years now. It started as a passion, and now it's grown into a career where I can share my story and connect with people through my sound.

Where are you based, and how did that influence your music?

I'm based in Lagos, and it's had a big influence on my music. The culture and everyday experiences here shape my sound.

Tell me about your most memorable shows, if you haven't played live what is your vision for a live show?

I haven't played many live shows yet, but I see them as a chance to connect with people on a deeper level. I want the vibe to feel real and personal, like we're all sharing the moment together through the music.

If you could play any show with any lineup, who would be on the ticket?

If I could play any show with any lineup, I'd love to share the stage with Chike, Adekunle Gold, and Asa. Their energy and artistry inspire me, and being part of a lineup like that would be a dream come true.

What is some advice that you would give to someone who is just getting into making music and some advice that you would give to your younger self?

For someone just getting into making music, I'd say stay true to yourself and your sound. Don't rush the process-take time to learn, grow, and build your craft. For my younger self, I'd say be patient and trust the journey. Every challenge is a lesson that will shape your story and make you stronger.

Of your songs, which one means the most to you and why?

My song "Adufe" means the most to me because it's about someone I loved so dearly. The song holds the memories of deep connections and emotions-moments of joy, growth, and even heartbreak. Writing it helped me process those feelings and turn them into something beautiful.

Which songs are your favorite to play, and which get requested the most?

My favorite song to play is "Adufe" because it's so personal.

What is your creative process, and what inspires you to write your music?

My creative process usually starts with a feeling or an experience that I want to express. It could be something I'm going through, a conversation, or even just a moment that sparks an idea. From there, I experiment with sounds, melodies, and lyrics until it all comes together. Inspiration can come from anywhere-love, life, and even people.

Do you have messages that you like to get across in your music? If so, please tell me about them.

Yes, I like to share messages of love, resilience, and self-expression in my music. I want people tofeel seen and inspired, no matter what they're going through. My songs are about connecting with emotions and showing that it's okay to be vulnerable, grow, and keep chasing your dreams.

Do you have any new singles, videos, or albums out that you would like to tell me and your fans about?

Yes, my latest single "Adufe" is out now, and it's a song that's really close to my heart. I'm also working on some exciting new projects. I can't wait for my fans (Elite Gang) to hear what's coming next.

What are your plans for the future, and do you have anything that you want to spotlight that is coming up?

My plans for the future include dropping more songs and performing live to connect with my fans. Right now, there's so much in store, and I'm excited to share it all soon.

How can your fans best keep up to date with you, any socials you want people to check out?

My fans can keep up with me on Instagram, Twitter, and TikTok at @iamboysarm. Stay tuned for updates, behind-the-scenes moments, and new music announcements. That's the best place to connect with me and see what I'm working on.
