Interview with BOOBS LICKERS

1-What got you into music, and if you had not gotten into music what would you be doing today?

We’re three people who grew up with music. Honestly, I think the main reason someone—or a group of people—dives into this world is to emulate or playfully copy their musical idols. I couldn’t tell you what we’d be like if we had a different life path. Honestly, I don’t even want to imagine it!

2-What do you like to do when you are not playing music and how does that influence your creativity?

Each of us has a day job to support the band. When we’re not playing, we all have different ways of spending our time: some of us chill at home watching movies or YouTube, some hit the gym, and others love driving around listening to music or hanging out in coffee rooms, always looking for inspiration. Each of us fuels our creativity in our own personal and authentic way. One thing’s for sure: we’re always chasing inspiration

3-How long has your band been around?

Our band started back in high school, around 2012/2013. Between classes, we started writing our first lyrics, playing our first tunes, just having fun. Then came our first gigs, our first album, and our first big wins. Now, here we are, ten years later, about to head out on our first California tour, following in the footsteps of the idols who inspired us to form a band: the Red Hot Chili Peppers!

4-Where are you based out of and how did that influence your music?

We’re based in a small town in Northern Italy, by a gorgeous lake called Verbania. Sure, the stunning scenery and high quality of life definitely play a role in sparking our creativity. But, like it often happens, our biggest influence comes from the legends who wrote the history of music, from the places where it was created. That’s why we dream of stepping on those same grounds and getting closer to them through our sound.

5-How did you come up with the name of your band and what does it mean to you?

Our name has a pretty unusual story, just like the name itself: “Boob Lickers.” It came up in high school, during those years when guys start meeting girls, first loves happen, first “physical” moments occur, and you start admiring the beauty of women, putting them at the center of the creative process.

At first, it was just a silly “game” to call ourselves Boob Lickers. But over time, the name took on a deeper meaning. We like to say that no matter what kind of person you are, your ethnicity, gender, religion, or orientation, we all share this one thing: our first dose of pure love came from our mom’s breast.

6-Tell me about your most memorable shows.

Our best gig was in Sicily, in a little town called Mirto. Back in 2019, we got invited to headline the Mirto Rock Fest. We flew there, played an incredible show in front of a massive crowd, and it was just unforgettable!

7-What is your favorite venue to play at, and do you have any places you want to play that you have not already?

We’re definitely a “club“ band but our dream is to be playing in a huge festival as opening band of a famous one !

8-If you could play any show with any lineup, who would be on the ticket?

It would be a dream to share the stage with the Red Hot Chili Peppers, System of a Down, or 2Pac. Honestly, the list is endless—it’s so hard to pick or leave anyone out!

9-What is some advice that you would give to someone who is just getting into playing in a band and some advice that you would give to your younger self?

To never stop dreaming ! to write, and write more and more music , to have fun ( funk)  . And there is no other advice i would give to my younger self because he’d be into the right type of music already !

10-If you could go back in time and give yourselves advice, what would it be?

If i could go back in time and give myself advice i would probably tell my self to study music a bit more, and to get singing lesson earlier ! because eventually it would be so much fun and usefull !

11-Of your songs which one means the most to you and why?

Out of all our songs, the one that connects us the most is “She’s Going Nowhere.” It’s from our first album. Sure, we were young and maybe not the best at expressing ourselves, but that song still hits us with such strong emotions years later. It’s crazy to think that even back then, some of our ideas and sounds were incredible—stuff that’d be tough for us to recreate now. Maybe because we were more carefree.

12-Which songs are your favorite to play and which get requested the most?

Our favorite song to play is “Having Sex Wearing Sox.” It’s a funky, fun, playful, and super energetic new track that we’re about to record in Los Angeles. The most requested song, though, is “Another Dose, Summanco!” It’s one of our earliest tracks, and our close friends have always been deeply attached to it.

13-What is the creative process for the band, and what inspires you to write your music?

Our creative process is both delicate and super simple. We usually start with a jam in the rehearsal room. If it feels right, we try singing random words over it. Then, we take it home, listen back, and work on arranging the lyrics and the song structure. Sometimes, we start with an idea for lyrics and build the sound around it, even working solo before piecing everything together. There’s no single formula—if something feels genuinely good, it becomes a Boob Lickers song. What inspires us the most? Girls, and the intense emotions that life throws our way.

14-What kinds of messages do you like to get across in your music?

Through our music, we want to share our love for funky music. Some of our lyrics are super personal and not easy to decode, but we’ve got plenty of tracks covering all sorts of topics!

15-Do you ever have disagreements in your band, and how do you get past them?

Being in a three-person band is both easy and challenging. Yeah, sometimes we can’t agree on decisions and end up in long debates, but we always sort things out for the good of the band.

16 -What are your plans for the future, and do you have anything that you want to spotlight that is coming up?

What’s next? Los Angeles! At the end of January, we’re heading there for a tour, playing in iconic and prestigious venues. Plus, we’ll be recording a single with an amazing producer. Stay tuned!
