Interview with ADAM WEST

What got you into music, and if you had not gotten into music what would you be doing today?

As you may or may not be aware my full time job is working as a Paramedic in the East Midlands. During Covid my team and I had started to struggle mentally. I started working with Garage band initially to make a few tracks we could laugh about and keep our spirits up during that difficult period. If I had not of started then I would still be doing the job I love.

What do you like to do when you are not playing music and how does that influence your creativity?

When I’m not making music I am normally at work. We have the radio on all night long and I take inspiration from the tracks that I can see make people tap their feet. When I do find the time I also love working on my Children’s books about 3 lovable Squirrels. The characters from the book are all inspired by members of my team.

How long have you been making music?

I started in 2020 and since then have met so many brilliant people with amazing skills in music production and thank everyone for the help they have offered me.

Where are you based and how did that influence your music?

I live in the East Midlands the home of the famous Gotham which is quite fitting if you can make the connection J. I have been inspired by so many artists including Pete Tong, Chicane, Paul van Dyk, Robert Miles, and Armin van Buuren. I love listening to all type of music but Trance music is the place I call home.

Tell me about your most memorable shows, if you haven’t played live what is your vision for a live show?

I haven’t had the pleasure of any live shows and I really don’t think I am anywhere near that. I still have so much to learn and working the shifts I do i am not sure I could even fit it in.

What is your favorite venue to play at, and do you have any places you want to play that you have not already?

If I ever did get to that point I would love to be able to play in my home town of Nottingham, I have so many amazing memories of growing up in the city.

If you could play any show with any lineup, who would be on the ticket?

Lol well if I had to pick somewhere it would have to be tomorrow land (dream big). Who would I have on the ticket? So many people to choose from. I would have to have Daft Punk, Swedish house Mafia, Tiesto, Paul Van dyke the list would be massive J

What is some advice that you would give to someone who is just getting into making music and some advice that you would give to your younger self?

Take all the advice and help you can get, if people are willing to spare the time to help then seize it every time. As for advice to my younger self it would have to be- Start now and put the time in.

Of your songs which one means the most to you and why?

My most loved track is In the Dark. It was my first collaboration with the amazing Taylor Friar, such a wonderful voice and a pleasure to work with. That project was the first of many we have planned.

Which songs are your favorite to play and which get requested the most?

My most popular tracks are In the Dark club version and the Original version, we had several tracks made but released only the two so far.

What is your creative process, and what inspires you to write your music?

My inspiration comes from those around me. I am lucky that I have lots of people close to me that love to listen to my music and give me so much feedback including things they would like to hear.  I have started to do more collaborations with some amazing artists and they are also inspiring to work with.

Do you have messages that you like to get across in your music? if so please tell me about them.

My music is made to make people smile and escape everyday life, if only for a short time. I always said if I made one track that people enjoyed then I would continue to make more, and if I made one people didn’t like I would try again.

Do you have any new singles, videos, or albums out that you would like to tell me and your fans about?

I have some new projects hopefully releasing within the next few months. I have more tracks have been working on with Taylor. I have also been working on several projects with Yung Mox, Chisa and the Paul Lawrence Project, so lots of exciting new things on the horizon. I haven’t even mentioned my new Periodic Part 4 series.

What are your plans for the future, and do you have anything that you want to spotlight that is coming up?

I would love to improve my Mixing and Mastering I work hard trying to improve my base skills. I am also trying  to support as many indie artists as I can in any way I can, be it a shout out on twitter or adding them to some of playlists to increase exposure for them. I know how hard it is starting out as an indie artist.

How can your fans best keep up to date with you, any socials you want people to check out?

I am always active on X and have slowly been trying to build my Insta and TikToc accounts. Any support I get is always greatly appreciated.
