Finnish symphonic/melodic metal act After Infinity checked back in with us for another round of questions, this time answered by band mastermind Zsolt Szilagyi.
Hey, thank you for coming back for another interview!
Zsolt: Thanks for having me, it's a pleasure to talk about my band. I could do it all day.
What is new since the last interview?
Zsolt: Well, we're rolling out new music, and we're gonna be playing our very first show in November! For the new album we found a label, Rockshots Records, so we're not releasing it independently like we did with the first album. It's great to have a label because it feels like someone other than the band is believing in our music.
What has been inspiring you lately?
Zsolt: The downfall of humanity, to be honest. This year has been terrible for anyone who cares about climate change and human rights. Late-stage capitalism is widening the gap between the rich and the poor. Due to AI, natural resource usage is more out of control than ever. War is making the lives of millions of people a living hell. Nepal is being flooded due to melting glaciers. Europe is on fire. The rise in right-wing politics is making sure these issues are not getting fixed. Our next album is going to be dark.
Do you have any new singles, videos, or albums out that you would like to tell me and your fans about?
Zsolt: Sure I do! Our new album Beyond Eternity is out on the 23rd of October, and several singles have already been released. Instead of me yapping about them, why don't you go and check out the new stuff yourself! My favorite track is the 12-minute epic "Hands of Time," sung by Metal De Facto's Aitor Arrastia with his crazy high register.
Do you have anything else that you would like to talk about or promote?
Zsolt: Well, there's that show we're gonna play! On November 6th we're gonna play our songs live for the first time ever. It's gonna happen in Helsinki's hottest live music cave, Lepakkomies. For now we have only been a studio project, and these songs have never been performed by a full band. We're going to try and avoid using backing tracks to make the live show a more special experience. I'm nervous and excited.
