Interiew with Blax
1) What got you into music, and if you had not gotten into music what would you be doing today?
The passion for music started when I listened to the Halloween vinyl “Live in the U.K.” and “Fear of the dark” by Iron Maiden, I was 11. Without music I would be exactly what I’m doing now, a doctor.
2) What do you like to do when you are not playing music and how does that influence your creativity?
I like to play poker, taste wine..all these things influence my creativity a lot.
3) How long has your band been around? Also, please tell me about the dynamic of the band of what brought you all together.
Our adventure started in March 2020 when our singer and songwriter Giampaolo Polidoro, alias Blax, started to collaborate with our guitarist Marco Fanella, alias Hektor, for the recording of the first demotape which later became the music you can listen through our album “Meravilia” recorded during 2021. The BLAX project became a family in 2022 when the drummer Massimiliamo Bergo (alias Argex), the bass player Giulia Balestrieri (alias Katla), and the guitarist Emil Dellantonio (alias Hexen) joined the band. Recently, a new drummer joined us, Luca Urbinati (alias Anon).
4) Where are you based and how did that influence your music?
We are based in Latina, a city near Rome in Italy. Maybe Italian passion influenced our music.
5) How did you come up with the name of your band and what does it mean to you?
The name Blax was spontaneously born while trying to grasp in its meaning between dark and black, intending a “black” soul.

7) What is your favorite venue to play at, and do you have any places you want to play that you have not already?
I would say the biggest stage we played, so at Masters of rock! We would like to play at bigger and bigger stages!
8) If you could play any show with any lineup, who would be on the ticket?
I would say artists like Alice Cooper who inspired our sound very much, and than a band that unites our music taste is for sure “Ghost” band.
9) What is some advice that you would give to someone who is just getting into playing in a band and some advice that you would give to your younger self?
My advice is to create a band like a family, cause have a band with persons that share the same passion and love each other is a gift and the music will be the greatest ever. To my younger self I would say to not be scared to follow the passions.
10) Of your songs which one means the most to you and why?
“Our Brain Condition” because is the exact representation of the BLAX .
11) Which songs are your favorite to play and which get requested the most?
“My Eva’s Eden” and “Queen of my heroine” which are also the the most requested one.
12) What is the creative process for the band, and what inspires you to write your music?
Every song of the first album “Meravilia“ was born from our singer Giampaolo (Blax) and then developed together with the guitarist Marco (Hektor).
13) What kinds of messages do you like to get across in your music?
Starting from the fact that BLAX band represents a family where every musician is a member of it with a specific role, “Meravilia” represents the place where this family live, as you can image from the album cover. In detail, we have the family landlord Blax, followed by his trusted butler Hektor, his gardener Argex, the custodian Hexen and the housekeeper Katla. Our album is thought as a concept album as the songs are meant to tell the stories around BLAX family, so a central narrative is present in the album.
14) Do you have any new singles, videos, or albums out that you would like to tell me and your fans about?
Yes, you have to watch our two video clips of “Our Brain Conditions” and “Shady Life”.
12) What are your plans for the future, and do you have anything that you want to spotlight that is coming up?
We are recording our second album that will come up at the end of this year, and for sure we want to continue to play more and more.
