The rock and metal community is rallying for one of their own. Steve Evetts — the legendary producer, engineer, and mixer behind some of the most influential records in modern heavy music — lost his New Jersey studio to fire on May 3, and a GoFundMe has been launched to help him rebuild.
If you've spent any time in the heavy, punk, emo, or post-hardcore world, you've heard Steve's work — probably many times over. His resume includes records with The Cure, Glassjaw, Snapcase, The Dillinger Escape Plan, Every Time I Die, The Used, Saves The Day, New Found Glory, The Misfits, Senses Fail, The Wonder Years, and countless others. He helped shape the sound of entire generations of heavy music fans.
In 2022, Evetts relocated back to New Jersey and set up a new studio in Belleville, NJ — the birthplace of numerous iconic rock and metal records. On May 3, 2026, that studio was destroyed in a fire through no fault of his own. In a matter of hours, he lost his creative home, all of his gear, and decades of career memorabilia, plaques, photos, and records.
Insurance will help cover the value of the lost gear but won't come close to covering the true cost of rebuilding—construction, setup, acoustic treatment, and everything else that makes a world-class studio. Evetts is determined to come back stronger, but he needs help getting there.
Every share, every dollar, every bit of signal-boosting matters. Please consider donating or spreading the word.
