Washington, DC death metal is alive and rotting in the best possible way. GOETIA have dropped the video for "Mortuary Cult" — the title track and first single from their debut full-length album, out June 12 via Carbonized Records.
Pre-orders: North America | Digital
Forged in Fall 2022 by bassist/vocalist Matt Scott, guitarist Demir Soyer, and drummer Nadia Tydings-Lynch, GOETIA draw from the shadow of Morbid Angel, Terrorizer, and Kreator to deliver fast-paced death metal drenched in guitar solos, blast beats, and an occult atmosphere that feels genuinely unsettling.
"'Mortuary Cult,' along with all the tracks on this album, was inspired by a local cemetery I used to visit frequently. Cemeteries are very peaceful places but also have a strange feeling of being liminal spaces... For this track, I was exploring the idea of people visiting for a sinister purpose – the worship of the dead through ritual." — Matt Scott
Mortuary Cult is a conceptually driven ten-track record — all songs inspired by a single DC-area cemetery — recorded by Matt Michel (Viva Studio) and mixed by Will Killingsworth (Dead Air Studios), with cover artwork by Chris Taylor. It's available on CD, LP, cassette, and digital.
