Swedish gothic doom titans DRACONIAN are making their triumphant return this Friday, and they've given us one more hauntingly beautiful reason to count down the hours. The band has unveiled the official lyric video for "Anima", the third and final single from their upcoming album In Somnolent Ruin, out May 8 via Napalm Records.
"Anima" features Swedish artist Daniel Änghede on lead vocals, whose dreamy presence weaves seamlessly with the luminous voice of Lisa Johansson — who herself marks a celebrated return to the band after years away.
"'Anima' began as a poem I wrote in 2019 — an exploration of the soul's duality and the inner territories we tend to avoid, or fear to face... The title itself nods to the Jungian archetype. Sonically, the track leans into a more gothic atmosphere than our earlier work." — Anders Jacobsson
In Somnolent Ruin arrives six years after the band's most successful release to date, Under a Godless Veil, and features a refreshed lineup including guitarist Niklas Nord and drummer Daniel Johansson. It's a record that refuses to be forgotten.
