Dethwish Announces New Album "Ruby," Shares "One Of Us Is The Killer"
Connecticut nu-metal/hyperpunk artist Dethwish is already back with a second full-length of the year. Ruby arrives October 31, following debut album The Disappearing Act, which only came out this past spring — a pace the 26-year-old artist calls part of the plan, not an accident.
Ruby's first single, "One of Us Is the Killer," is a post-apocalyptic, neo-emocore rager built for basement shows and festival pits alike, featuring Dethwish's CT-scene friends Montclair. Per Dethwish, the album is "about losing a friend, yourself, and a girl from New Jersey on the early internet" — a fittingly online-poisoned framing for an artist frequently compared to a Gen Z, TikTok-era Nine Inch Nails.
The 11-track Ruby includes cuts like "Dead Internet," "Thebomb.com," and "Son of Sam," continuing the extremely-online, nihilistic-but-hooky sound that's built Dethwish's following alongside scene peers Symposia and Cheem. Dethwish has shared stages with Wargasm, Cheem, Flatwounds, Lip Critic, and MKultra, and will soon open for Damage and Sheer Terror before a fall tour culminating in a hometown record release show in Connecticut on November 28.
