New Jersey progressive rock duo Datura Lodge will release their debut self-titled album on October 2 via ARQUEN Records, and they've brought serious pedigree along for the ride: keyboardist Adam Holzman (Miles Davis, Steven Wilson) and violinist Ben Karas (Thank You Scientist) both appear across the nine-track record.
Opener "Mummy" sets an eerie tone around disillusionment and generational fallout, while "Stone" pairs fast-paced rhythms and technical guitar work with Karas's electrifying violin solo. Elsewhere, "98 and 94" channels early-90s grunge to grapple with the pre-internet world and the AI age, and "Them" skewers office culture and LinkedIn platitudes with self-deprecating humor.
Formed in early 2026, Datura Lodge is Nicky B (bass, vocals) and "W" (guitar, vocals) — a duo who've performed together since their early teens and previously caught attention with a cover of King Crimson's "Starless" featuring John Wetton that topped 350,000 YouTube views. Their influences run through Genesis, King Crimson, The Mars Volta, and Rush.
Datura Lodge was produced by the band and Ben Karas, who also mixed the record; Andy VanDette (Evolve Mastering) handled mastering.
Tracklist: Mummy, Stone, 98 and 94, Them, Floor, Can, Hole, Beam, Lodge.
