Norwegian heavy metal newcomers AVRAK release their self-titled debut album this Friday, October 9, via Peacefille Records. The band was founded in November 2023 by guitarists Anders Hegna (Nod, El Kayenne, Svidd Grevling) and Ted Skjellum, half of Darkthrone.
The pair bonded over a shared love of old, classic rock and metal, and the first compositions took shape within five days. Skjellum decided from the start not to handle main vocals, so Hegna took on that role. Drummer Terje Krabol (Gjendod, Sarke, Faustcoven) joined weeks later, and bassist Steinar Gundersen (Khold, Sarke, Satyricon) completed the lineup before the band's first show in Porsgrunn in late April 2026.
The nine-track record is described as a "heavy metal voyage from the peak of the mountains to the depths of the seas," built on a classic metal and doom backbone with synth passages and traces of black metal riffing. Themes center on empowerment in the face of increasingly corrupt times. It was recorded, mixed and mastered by Knut Magne Valle at Molla Studio in February 2026.
Current singles: "Unborn" and "The Lonely Shadow." For fans of Darkthrone, Satyricon, Candlemass, Enslaved and Cirith Ungol.
Lineup: Anders Hegna (guitars, vocals, bass), Ted Skjellum (guitars, Moog guitar/synth, additional vocals, effects), Terje Krabol (drums), Steinar Gundersen (bass).
