UK soul singer-songwriter DALEY is back with his first album in years. "Strange Nature" drops globally on September 18th via SRG-ILS (Virgin Music/UMG), and it marks the Manchester native's return after an eight-year hiatus shaped by personal loss, industry upheaval, and — by his own account — a lot of self-reflection.
The 10-track record features Marsha Ambrosius, Robert Glasper, and Keyon Harrold, and Daley's already previewed it with "Lavender," "Slide," and "Headlights" (feat. Ambrosius).
On the album title: "Life does not always unfold in ways we can predict, hope or expect... The strange isn't good or bad, it's equal parts beautiful and ugly — and for me a weight is lifted by accepting that we are not always going to understand the nature of things, as long as we continue to learn and grow through them."
Standout cuts include the breakup song "Easy" and "Compass," a collaboration with Robert Glasper that Daley says came together when Glasper "meditated on some chords at the piano" while Daley laid melodic sections over the top.
Daley kicks off a 27-city US tour on September 16th in St. Louis, MO.
