On May 4th — Star Wars Day — Polish-born guitarist and composer Andrzej Citowicz, working under his project Citovitz and The Fireflies of February, released his deeply personal new album For The Hawk, alongside an official lyric video for "I Don't Have To Hide."
The date was not a coincidence. For The Hawk is a tribute album dedicated to a friend, mentor, and father figure who passed away — a man Citowicz describes as a devoted Star Wars fan and a "Light Side soul in every sense." The choice of May 4th is a final act of devotion.
Musically, this is warm, guitar-forward rock rooted in the melodic hooks of Bon Jovi, Def Leppard, and the great power ballad tradition of the late '80s and early '90s. Citowicz records out of a home studio in Cairo, Egypt, with lyrics co-written by his wife Shereen Shoukry Citowicz. "I Don't Have To Hide" is one of the album's most intimate songs — a reflection on the freedom that comes from being fully known and fully accepted.
This is independent music in the truest sense: no label, no machine, just a guitar, a marriage built on creativity, and a profound act of remembrance.
