L.A.-based instrumental symphonic progressive metal band Angels on the Battlefield, led by JD McGibney, have released a new single and video, "Beauty in a Body Bag," aimed at battling the stigma around Borderline Personality Disorder.
"This song was written to capture the dark and tormenting struggle that is so strongly associated with Borderline Personality Disorder," the band explains. "'Beauty in a Body Bag' was written to give this darkness form, and allow those who are struggling to face that darkness head on in order to learn how to overcome it."
The band — McGibney alongside Jason Klein (ex-Butcher Babies), Eddie Trager (ex-Nekrogoblikon), and Chris Wirsig — has built a mission around raising mental health awareness through heavy metal, including a 2022 fundraiser that raised roughly $30,000 for LA mental health charities. Their 2024 single "Modern Prometheus" was long-listed for three 2025 GRAMMY categories.
